Did you know Boston has a fashion week? Yeah me either, but it does.
While it may not be as prestigious as NYC’s fashion week it’s bringing
us lots fashionable & cool things to do. These are some of the events that
peaked my interest:

WEDNESDAY 9/17 6:30pm | Sam Mendoza Fashion Show

Boston Magazine, I Soci Salon, Shu Uemura & Stil
The Liberty Hotel
215 Charles Street, Beacon Hill – Boston
RSVP at rsvp@mendozamendoza.com

THURSDAY 9/18 12pm – 8pm | Boston Fashion Industry Expo “Let’s Wake Up the World”

An Expo of 21st Century Boston Fashion as Creative Art, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Education, Economic Empowerment & Social Action. Booth exhibits, seminars, and presentations from local fashion industry professionals. www.bostonfix.com
Lesley University, University Hall.
1815 Mass Ave, Cambridge MA

FRIDAY 9/19 5pm – 7pm | This is Not Fashion – Opening Reception

Experience a synergy of fashion and art in a never-before-seen exhibit by local photographer David Alsdorf called “This is Not Fashion”.
The collection features local fashion industry favorites including clothing from Turtle in the South End, models from local agencies and Miss Massachusetts USA 2008 Jacquie Bruno. The images combine familiar fashion iconography with photographic styles that are usually extrinsic to the subject – such as the criminal mug shot – in order to raise questions about how we read and categorize images. The presentation also uses hand-drawn and photographic superimpositions to comment on the depersonalization of fashion models.

Turtle
619 Tremont Street
South End – Boston

The event is open to the public. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
In order to accommodate all guests we request those interested in attending to RSVP to rsvp@polinafashion.com. For more information on David Alsdorf please visit www.davidalsdorf.com
