Better late than never I suppose.
In these uncertain financial times there are a few things that I’ve found that can help you “keep it together”. I thought it best to illustrate these by simply taking photos around my house using my camera phone.

Relax. There are only so many things you can worry about. The real worries will materialize out of thin air when you least expect them. Do the best you can and realize there’s only so much within your control.

Read. Pick up a book. They’re educational and sometimes dirty. Either way you’re reading and keeping your mind engaged and active. If you’re strapped for cash, head to the library. There you can check out the latest novel, order books and even DVD’s.

Drink Tea. It’s good for you and inexpensive. There’s nothing more civilized than tea time.

Keep it clean. A clean home = a clear mind.

Sleep. 7.5 hours at least.

Stay connected. A high speed internet connection is quite the necessity, especially if you’re searching for jobs. Also it’s always a good thing to know what’s going on in the world.

Eat in. Make use of that nice dinette set and the fancy dinnerware from iittala. I’ve started watching old episodes of the Naked Chef with Jamie Oliver and making everything he makes. It’s fun, you’re culinary skills will improve, and you’ll save money cooking at home. Check out Jamie Oliver’s site for quick simple recipes and go get naked.

Save. I have to admit that I, like many other Americans, am rather horrible at this. Still, it’s always good to at least be conscious of where your money is going.

Eat right. Fruits and vegetables (I’m starting to sound like my mom). It’s a great way to stay healthy and have one less thing to worry about.

Make your own coffee. Let’s face it, standing in line to pay $2.09 each morning adds up. Indulge and buy good coffee at the grocery store or specialty foods store. You’ll get your morning cup of happy and still save a fortune.

Keep in touch. Stay close to the people who care about you. Reconnect with those you’ve not heard from. Pick each other up.
