Twice a year, ApartmentTherapy does the Cure, and eight-week group quest to “work together to make our homes more beautiful, organized and healthy.”
This year, our own Joyce, along with her husband Kevin, took advantage of the spring Cure to organize and bring some color into their loft in Jamaica Plain.
Check out a few examples of what they did:
They cleaned out the storage space under the stairs to make a serene seating area

Painted a chalkboard wall in the entry, hung a wooden key hanger from Charles & Marie on one side of the door, added a faux-frame decal on the door, and put two antler-esque coat hangers on the other side.

In the “landing strip”, they painted and added an Ivy White coat hanger from the ICA store.

And they’re not done yet. They have plans to hang black and white photos on the yellow wall above the stairway.
(See all the before and after photos of their work on Flickr.)
Their loft was an impressive space before, with it’s 18-foot, scalloped brick ceiling and lofted bed space, but they made changes that really touch on their personalities – their both photographers and graphic designers, and that knowledge of layout and design shows in their home.
After all their hard work, Kevin and Joyce’s space was highlighted in the final Spring Cure 2009 post on ApartmentTherapy, a nice recognition of what they’ve accomplished.
Congratulations, Kevin and Joyce!
