Great Holiday Gift Ideas at Good

Wow, a lot’s happened since I started the 2009 Holiday Gift Guide. For our next installment, I’m walking a little farther down Charles St, to Good. Good is a beautiful, eclectic store, featuring a combination of modern home accessories and jewelry, and vintage and antique objects.

For the man with the gadget obsession (like me!), why not a Crookes radiometer? This device, invented in 1873 by Sir Willam Crookes,  contains vanes mounted on a spindle inside of an airtight glass bulb. When light hits the vanes, they begin to spin – faster for stronger light and slower for less intense light. A radiometer would look good on a mantle or in a bookcase.

If someone would prefer the kind of decoration you can wear, why not handmade necklaces from Patch NYC? Or would they prefer an antique of vintage piece?

Or perhaps you’ll want to get that someone special something so surprising, they’ll scream in excitement. For my girlfriend, these butterflies beautifully encased in glass would be it. You see, Meg is terrified of butterflies (which means this is probably that last time she reads this blog). Maybe the necklace would be  the better choice for her.

Stay tuned as I continue to explore local sources for great holiday gifts!

Do you have a favorite store that you just HAVE to go to when shopping for presents? Let us know in the comments!
