Kevin and I have committed to doing the Apartment Therapy’s 2010 Spring Cure! We have done this once before last spring and we accomplished so much, although not everything we wanted to get done got done. Nonetheless it was a great experience! This year I have decided to write about it as some form of accountability! Also we are expecting a baby in May so this came up at a perfect time for us to get the rest of household projects done before the baby comes. The photo above is our bedroom/office and where our main focus will be of setting up the nursery.

Goals we are looking to accomplish in the next 8 weeks are:  setting up a nursery in our loft and do the “deep treatment” to the rest of place which basically consists of lots of organizing and cleaning! Not to mention finish up some of the project’s we didn’t get to last time around — like finishing our “yellow wall“! We managed to paint it and clean under the stairs (which was a HUGE task) but fell short on the decorating part. We have started hanging photos, but we need to finish that section and then also focus on what will happen with the space we under the stairs. Also we need to make our place more baby friendly. At the moment we have alot of dangerous artwork hanging around! I will also be documenting our spring cure through photographs and you can see more of them on my flickr page.

This is where most of the cleaning & organzing will happen.

This is the start of Week 1. Here is what we need to do this week to begin our cure:

• Make a list of repairs & solutions
• Vacuum and mop floor (not looking forward to mopping)
• Remove 1 item from our home and put it outside
• Buy fresh flowers (this I am looking forward to!)
• Look into earth friendly cleaning products
• Choose room to focus on (Done! The Nursery)
• Gather pictures of rooms we love
• Start a style tray
• Visit my favorite home store
• Set a budget

Ok then I’m off to work!

Exposed brick is one thing Joyce & Kevin's home has plenty of! It's a beautiful space as is; I'm looking forward to seeing what the next 9 weeks bring!

Thank you! The brick is one of my favorite parts of this building. Although it's really hard to hang anything on.

The spring cure of your home looks to be a successful project. Your home and work should inspire all your website visitors in their home make over. It is amazing how you worked with the place, colours and accessories. The whole space looks modern, chic, comfortable and friendly. The idea to use yellow colour on the wall is the eye-catching detail of your apartment now. I think it was a courageous decision, but very successful and looks great. Thank you for sharing and good luck in your next projects.

    Best regards
    Julie

Our floors are painted concrete. We were going for a dark gray but as we were applying it, it was coming out more black than gray. So we decided to do a distressed look by wiping off some paint around the seams of the floors. Keep checking the blog, we hope to put up an article soon of how we did it!

Thank you so much for your positive feedback! I find that looking at what other people do in their homes is such an inspiration as well. That being said I really enjoy seeing what photos people have posted during the cure on the the Apartment Therapy Spring Cure 2010 Flickr group. You should check it out for more inspiration :)
