This week we are supposed to be focusing on our “landing strip”. You know the place where all your junk (coat, bag, sunglasses, mail ect.) ends up at the end of the day. Last year I focused on this area pretty heavily, so much so in fact we ended up with 2 landing strips! (see below) This year I plan on cleaning up the area and just fine tuning it a bit. For example, we have a gray metal table we bought at Brimfield last year that we want to paint white. Also I need to clean out our coat closet. We have so many coats we don’t even wear! So my main goals this week are to declutter my “landing strip” and get that table painted!
Landing Strip 1 - This is the metal table to be painted. We need to clean up recycling. This is where everything that needs to leave the house for one reason of another ends up.
Landing Strip 2- Its a far cry from the photo above! basically I just need to clean it up and put stuff away. We just went away for the weekend so I need to unpack and do laundry too!
For the nursery, we still are doing some research on how to deal with loft railings. They are quite open and we want the little one to be able to crawl around freely without danger. Some ideas we have are:
-putting up actual walls around the crib area (which would help with light and some noise)
-covering the railing with homemade version of a LOFTwall (which would still let some natural light in)
-covering the short side of the loft railing with plywood painted in chalkboard paint.
We don’t have a big budget for this project so we have to continue the research! And we should start moving the office downstairs this week. This is going to be a big job but if we do little by little maybe it wont seem so bad.
This weeks AT to do list:
Deep Treatment
- Vacuum, dust, and mop (wet or dry) throughout your home.
- Clean your entrance and any related closets.
- Arrange to have all repairs taken care of in the next three weeks.
- Declutter your entrance.
- Move all old mail, catalogs, and magazines to the Outbox.
- Look into what you would need to create a Landing Strip.
- Cancel any unused subscriptions.

- Cook two meals at home this week.
- Design an invitation for your housewarming.

- Research your shopping list.
- Start a list of proposed interior changes.
