This weekend we played Tetris with our furniture (with a little help from our friends!) We moved Kevin’s office, that was up in the loft, and what now will be the nursery, downstairs to our work area. Moved the stainless steel table, that was in the work area, to our dinning room area, and moved our old dining table out of the way. We plan on selling it or putting it on craigslist this week, but until then it remains under the stairs. We also cleaned out our coat closets, cleaned up our “Landing Strip” and make a big trip to goodwill and a few consignment shops this weekend. It feels good to purge, although I think we still have much more to go! However, we did not get to painting the metal table, maybe next weekend….. We also decided to get some elfa shelving to go over our washer and dryer for some extra storage for suitcases, bags, and blankets. Hoping to pick up that stuff up within the next 2 weeks. FYI, if you sign up for the Container Store emails, they will send you a 20% coupon to use online or in-store!
Concerning the nursery, we decided to try out covering the loft railings in plexiglass or polycarbonate sheets and create a little room for baby by hanging curtains. We were fortunate enough to be given 10 olive green velvet curtain panels from a family member so we are going to start there and see how it looks. This week I hope to build the crib and decide on a layout for the nursery.
Next up for week 4 is the Living Room: Retail Therapy. Our goals for this room is to get a rug, hang curtains and add some lighting. But I’m not sure we will actually get to all that this week for financial reasons. So for the time being, we are focusing on the cleaning and decluttering of the area, which I got a headstart on last week! Again with the game Tetris I had to make room for books that we were keeping upstairs downstairs so I managed to get rid of a bunch of books this past weekend to make room.
